General Questions
Who is I Care Pharmacy?
I Care Pharmacy is a Maine owned and operated company located in Fort Fairfield, Aroostook County, Maine. We offer the convenience of mailing your prescriptions right to your door.
What's different about I Care Pharmacy?
I Care is the pharmacy with a heart. We strive to provide exceptional customer service along with the convenience of having your prescriptions delivered right to your door.
If you are a MaineCare member, you may be able to get a 90 day-supply of medication with no co-payments. We are also able to provide 90-day supplies to many customers with private insurance plans, often with reduced copays.
What types of insurance do you take?
Care accepts MaineCare, Maine DEL, MaineRx, Caremark, GHS, WellCare, Anthem, Aetna, PacifiCare and many other most major third-party insurance. We also participate in most Medicare D plans. Call us to find out if we are contracted with your insurance provider.
Do you ship to other states?
No, at present we ship to Maine addresses only.
My child is away at college in another state. Can you still provide them with their prescriptions?
Yes. We will ship them to your Maine address which will enable you to forward them to your child. Call us and we will help you.
How can I send you my prescriptions?
There are several ways:
- You may mail them to us at
227 Main St., Fort Fairfield, ME 04742
- Your physician’s office can call them into us at
207-472-1302 or 1-888-422-7319
- Your physician’s office can fax them into us at
207-472-1580 or 1-877-422-7319
We are sorry, but the law prevents patients from faxing in their own prescriptions. Also, certain types of prescriptions cannot be accepted by fax or phone and must be mailed in.
We'll also need some information about you. Please print and fill out our order form and mail or fax it to us.
How long will it take to get my prescriptions?
Once your order is received in our facility, it typically takes two business days for your prescription to be processed and mailed, and then another day or two for the Postal Service to deliver. Taking into account that we do not mail on the weekends, it is best to order at least a week in advance. We don't often take that long, but better safe than sorry.
I certainly don't want to run out of medicine. How early can I order?
MaineCare rules require that a patient must use 80% of his/her prescription before it can be refilled. Other insurances have similar rules. If your prescription is for a 30-day supply, this only allows us 6 days to process your prescription and get it to you prior to your running out. The mail order pharmacy really does work better with 90-day supplies. This allows us a full 18 days to order, fill and ship your medicines. And anyone who lives in Maine knows how the weather can delay shipments.
Will I be able to get refills on this web site?
Sure. In the near future, we hope to have a form specifically for ordering refills. For now, just drop an e-mail to customer service and tell us your name and the Rx numbers (or names of the medications) that you would like refilled. Your order will be processed the next business day.
Maine Care Questions
You advertise "MaineCare members may receive up to 90 days supply with no co-pays." Sounds good! How does that work?
MaineCare clients, who have strictly MaineCare, do not pay co-payments at I Care Pharmacy. Ask your doctor to write your prescriptions for 90 day quantities.
I have Medicare Part D wrap coverage, how will my co-payments differ by using I Care Pharmacy’s 90-day mail order rather than my local pharmacy?
You will pay a co-payment on only brand name medications and you will only be paying that once every 90 days rather than every 30 days. There will be no co-payments on generic medications.
I have MaineCare and I sent you my prescriptions. Then I got a call asking me to pay co-payments. Why is that?
Most likely, you have dual eligibility. This means you have Medicare as well as MaineCare. Starting in 2006, the State of Maine started enrolling those clients who were Medicare eligible into federally funded Medicare D drug plans. Some of these plans have modest copays associated with certain brand-name drugs ($1 to $5.50.) The State considers the Medicare D plan to be the primary insurance; they will only pick up half of the Medicare D copay.
My prescription was written for a 90 day supply, but I only received a 30 day supply. What happened?
MaineCare has a preferred drug list. When patients need a drug that is non-preferred, the physician must request prior authorization, or a "PA." Often times, the prior authorization is only given for a 30 day supply. MaineCare will grant 90-day PAs to I Care if the physician requests, so remember to ask your doctor to make out the PA for 90 days as well as the prescription.
